Aaron Cohen, peacemaker and would-be high priest, has surfed with Perry Farrell, had lunch with the Dalai Lama, and probably helped save thousands of lives between his night-frighting and testimony on behalf of enslaved people everywhere.

Bono

The way you behave in the world depends entirely on the way you view the world…12 million AIDS orphans in Africa, 18 million by the end of the decade, a whole generation of active adults wiped out, children bringing up children, that is not a cause, that is an emergency…

A continent burns and we smell the smoke, it stings our eyes, it seers our conscience; but maybe not as much as it should because we live with it, don’t we?  On a certain level we have come to accept it, this absurdity.

The Bible

What does it mean to say that God inspired the words of the text if we don’t have those words? Why should one think that God performed the miracle of inspiring the words of the Bible if he didn’t perform the miracle of preserving the words of the Bible? If he meant to give us his very words why didn’t he make sure we received them…For all of us, the Bible is the most important book of western civilization…but how do we interpret the New Testament? It’s hard to know what the words mean if we don’t know what the words were. (Bart Ehrman)
