I grew up in Bedford, Texas and graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University (OBU) with degrees in English and philosophy. After college I worked for 2 years with the Majority Leader of the United States House of Representatives. I received my Masters degree from the University of Texas at Austin's LBJ School of Public Affairs where I concentrated my studies on international affairs. I completed a year of law school at Southern Methodist University's Dedman School of Law and I'm taking a break from law school while working for the government. My interests: criminal, constitutional and international law; human rights and international development; international security and foreign policy; philosophical theology; changing the world; good conversation; philosophically I'm a pragmatic existentialist with moments of transcendentalism who believes critical, contextual and creative thinking can help transform who we are and the world we live in; politically I'm a moderate pragmatist who leans libertarian; Russian literature; the politics and culture of the Middle East; and the poetry of Wendell Berry, Walt Whitman, and Pablo Neruda.
